 Shonen Knife announce supports for Aotearoa tour!


 
 

Kicking off Shonen Knife's Aotearoa tour are cult band favourites Teenwolf!

Teenwolf are the legendary K' Road supergroup of Brad Fafejta (Creme Jean) Vincent Lum (Vincent H.L.) and Chelsea Nikkel (Princess Chelsea) who have been inactive for over 15 years but have graciously reunited for a special show with Shonen Knife. 

“Never did I think Teenwolf would perform again - let alone on Waiheke Island!” says Chelsea.

Recently busting out of Pōneke to win audiences throughout the North Island are Sure Boy!

Hailing from Te Whanganui-a-tara, Sure Boy is an all female pop-rock group most commonly known as ‘Wellington’s baddest girl band’. This dynamic group brings gritty guitar tones, a punchy rhythm section and a powerhouse lead vocalist that delivers a live performance that’ll leave you wanting more.

Formed in 2020, Sure Boy has made its mark on the Wellington music scene and is set to make waves across the country. Sure Boy has opened for a number of large national and international acts including Teenage Dads, The Beths, The Butlers and Heavy Chest. The summer of 2023 saw them perform at Rhythm and Vines, Summer in Waihi and Cupa Dupa.


 
 

Auckland high-energy rock and roll band Cindy support Shonen Knife in Raglan! With their raw and rebellious sound, Cindy captures the essence of rock’n’roll, delivering fast-paced anthems that ignite mosh pits and leave audiences craving more. Formed in 2016, this four-piece powerhouse Known for their explosive live performances creating an electric atmosphere that is impossible to resist. 

Having released two EPs, and toured with their idols King Brothers several times both in Japan and in Aotearoa, Cindy jumped at the opportunity to open the stage for Shonen Knife in Whāingaroa. The energy at Cindy's live shows is legendary, and this show at the infamous Yot Club will be no different.


 
 

Rounding off Shonen Knife’s awesome Aotearoa tour are Auckland-based Cootie Cuties!

Cootie Cuties are Kelsie Joyce, Annie Hyer, Brian Seston, Shannon Bremner and Paddy Fox.

Featuring sugary hooks and jaw breaking haymakers, Cootie Cuties blends punk with 1960s girl group melodies for high energy tunes with a message.

Annie says, "We are a Tamaki Makaurau-based femme punk band that serves satire and dirty looks to any man who crosses us!"

Cootie Cuties stands for community, uplifting queer voices, and a whole lot of chaotic fun.
